Challenge
This retailer wanted to reduce operational costs and incident frequency whilst improving resource efficiency. To achieve these goals, a dedicated team was established, centralizing knowledge to drive automated infrastructure provisioning.

Solution
Irori worked closely through a structured, four-phase automation journey to ensure success:
- Gap Analysis: Mapping existing automations and defining desired end-state goals to identify key areas for improvement. Negotiating organizational buy-in for changes.
- Migration and Structuring: Improving and standardizing processes, tools and activities to build a solid foundation. This included integrating tools like Ansible Lint for code quality assurance and migrating from GitLab to GitHub for unified version control.
- Consolidation and Documentation: Consolidating scripts into reusable Ansible playbooks. This improved efficiency and maintainability, supported by comprehensive documentation within Confluence.
- Implementation: Leveraging the newly established procedures, centralized knowledge, and robust Ansible playbooks, the team successfully implemented fully automated, end-to-end network provisioning.
Results
The automation journey continues but as of today we have achieved:
- Centralized Automation Team enhancing operational efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to fully utilize the Ansible Automation Platform, to autonomously manage and scale future automation initiatives.
- Empowered Development by enabling self-service capabilities and streamlined workflows to simplify and reduce dependencies for developers.
- More secure and efficient provisioning processes directly contributed to a faster time-to-market for new services and applications.
